As an artist and musician, I use art as a language to communicate the things that I care about. I graduated from Central Saint Martin’s, University of the Arts – London in 2008 and I decided to continue my art career alongside to teaching art, music, curating and collaborating with artists and musicians to integrate the arts; I want to open the eyes of those that do not know much about art and music through learning, education, performing arts, collaboration and public art. My aim is to show the audience how to find beauty, music and art through our everyday life and surrounding objects.

For me, art and music is the most eloquent way to invoke an open dialogue, and without it we are missing elements that are essential in life. I work to create a universal language within my artwork, be it in painting, mixed media, collaboration, collage, photography, or any other medium like drumming, singing and finding objects to create sounds and beats. I thrive off of personal and social interactions and enjoy meeting new people in the creative field who generally inspire my art and music. Working in teaching for seven years along side to collaborating with different international and local artists/musicians allowed me to expand my contacts and reach out to those artists and allow them to improvise to be able to create something new by sharing their art. This experience has definitely introduced me to contemporary Arab artists and international as well. It pushed my limits and allowed me to experiment with different mediums and materials in both my art and music.

My work revolves around being able to leave the audience with a memory, thought, or feeling to evoke a conversation; I aim to leave traces and echoes be it in brushstrokes or sounds. I highlight the beauty of repetition and obsession through different objects around the home and my work space that I intentionally use in my artwork and music. In my art, I use found bits and pieces and collage them into a painting to draw attention to how our everyday items, like newspapers, coffee stains, scrap paper, ribbons and ink, can turn into an art piece. I believe that simple things can bring beauty to our life. My aspiration is to invite the viewer to reconsider their own understanding of objects that are used in their routine. In my Music, being part of the group BRAMEL’Z DXB is also expanding and challenging the idea of found objects through my classical knowledge in music. I am also giving art workshops to raise awareness about found objects and the use of recycled materials.

I am very enthusiastic about the arts, it really does not stop there for me, I am also art directing at the moment, I worked on Hollywood movies like The Martian, I was in the Art Department as a scenic painter, and the movie War Machine as a costume stylist in the Wardrobe Department.
